THE SOUL OF ANALOG

The soul of analog

I didn’t ask to become the death of art

I didn’t ask to be a misleading outlet that convinces the young to chase dreams based on a reality show

I didn’t ask to interrupt the musical process and strip it of its backbone

I didn’t ask to interrupt the writers process

I didn’t ask to strip communities of their jobs

I didn’t ask to strip the beauty out of movies

I didn’t ask to take advantage of addictive behavior

I didn’t ask to steal the laughter from comedy

I didn’t ask to become the slow death of movie theaters

I didn’t ask to kill the image making process

I didn’t ask to strip the desire to read books

I didn’t ask to kill spontaneity and the element of surprise

I didn’t ask to kill the social life in exchange for social media life

I didn’t ask to be the cause of miss information and political turmoil

I didn’t ask to amplify international conflict

I didn’t ask to become a source that divides families

I just wanted to serve as a source of support to to the creator.

The Soul of Analog

Speaks to the beauty of found digital objects and its original intent.

I pulled elements from a variety of electronic/digital devices in order to highlight the similarities in their functionality and how they can sit with each other to display common stories/purposes.

The idea is to show the art in these devices while simultaneously highlighting how human misuse of technelogy/digital platforms has interrupted or damaged art, the artist and many facets of life for greed, power and profits.

It was on purpose not not make these pieces functional, as a way to say it’s ok to unplug be still, go slow, allow the nuances and journey to be explored so that the magic of doing can produce more magic.
